Bíó Paradís sýnir heimildamyndina The Grant Green Story fimmtudagskvöldið 15. júní klukkan 23:00. Myndin fjallar um jazz gítarleikarann Grant Green sem er best þekktur fyrir störf sín fyrir Blue Note Records, fyrsta óháða jazz plötufyrirtæki Bandaríkjanna.

Tónlist Green hefur sömpluð af listamönnum á borð við Kendrick Lamar, A Tribe Called Quest, Nellee Hooper, Björk og fleirum. Grant Green lést aðeins 43 ára gamall árið 1979.

THE GRANT GREEN STORY, a documentary on the late jazz guitarist Grant Green, premieres at Bio Paradis, Hverfisgoty 54, 101 Reykjavik, June DATE HERE, 2017.

Green’s is best known for his work with Blue Note Records, America’s first independent jazz label, during the company’s heyday, the early to mid-1960s. His work has been sampled by many hip-hop performers including Kendrick Lamar and A Tribe Called Quest as well as by Nellee Hooper, British producer for Madonna, Bjork, among others.

Green died at the age of 43 in 1979. Among the individuals interviewed in the film are Grammy Award-winning musician and vocalist George Benson who called Grant his favorite guitarist. Legendary saxophonist Lou Donaldson who is credited with discovering Green and the recently departed sound engineer Rudy Van Gelder are also featured.
