Í leit að betra lífi flytur sex ára Maja með foreldrum sínum frá Júgóslavíu til Danmerkur, á meðan tveir eldri bræður sitja eftir með loforð um endurfundi.

En nýja lífið er hlaðið áskorunum, nýtt tungumál og menning og aðlögunarhæfni fólks sem reynir að lifa af. 

Dönsku leikararnir Trine Dyrholm og Claes Bang fara með hlutverk í myndinni.

In the hope of creating a better life, 6-year-old Maja and her parents leave Yugoslavia for Denmark, leaving behind Maja’s two older brothers with the promise they will join once the family is settled.

But the new country proves difficult and unfamiliar, and the family struggles to adapt to a new language, culture, and way of life.
