Myndin segir sögu glæpaforingjans Henry Hill. Í aðalhlutverkum eru þeir Ray Liotta, Robert De Niro og Joe Pesci, sem fékk Óskarsverðlaun fyrir bestan leik í aukahlutverki fyrir hlutverk sitt í myndinni.
Goodfellas er ein lofaðasta kvikmynd allra tíma. Martin Scorsese leikstýrði myndinni en hún var tilnefnd til sex Óskarsverðlauna árið 1990.

The true story of Henry Hill, a half-Irish, half-Sicilian Brooklyn kid who is adopted by neighbourhood gangsters at an early age and climbs the ranks of a Mafia family. With his rise through the organisation, however, comes the dangers of violence, double-crosses, drug addiction and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
It is a film adaptation of the 1986 non-fiction book Wiseguy by Nicholas Pileggi, who co-wrote the screenplay with Scorsese. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, and it won for Pesci in the Best Actor in a Supporting Role category.
