The Beast was made in 1917 when Poland was close to regaining its independence. The plot focuses on a young dancer played by world-wide famous actress Pola Negri, trying to conquer the artistic scene of the country. In addition to the artistic value, the film gives a rare opportunity to see the streets of Warsaw in their original form (before they were razed to the ground during WWII). To replicate a vintage atmosphere of the original screenings from the beginning of the twentieth century, the viewers get to listen to a live music accompaniment.
*Projection will be preceded by a joint toast and a few words from the Polish Ambassador, Mr. Gerard Pokruszyński.
