Only two years divide The Conductor and The Big Picnic, but one look at the screen is enough to see that we are dealing with a completely different world. The music gap seems even greater as we go from classical music to short and aggressive punk songs.

1980s Poland sinks deeper and deeper into economic and political crisis among other countries of The Eastern Block, but our two young heroes, Rysiek and Julek, don’t want to have anything to do with this. On the contrary, they dream of having the life of flashy millionaires, buying the best clothes, driving the fanciest cars and hanging out in the most luxurious penthouses. Thanks to theft, they manage to fulfill their dream, but with every dream comes a time for harsh reality to set in.
